Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides patient care as assigned and per routine as defined by educational scope, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures. Answers call lights in a timely and appropriate manner. Documents care provided according to standards. Maintains a clean work and patient environment. Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies. Floats to various units based on identified patient care needs. Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities. Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel Bladder scanning procedure reviewed Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency) Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor Managing and reporting collection devices: Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures Indwelling catheters: care and output measures Nasogastric tubes to suction Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising
