Position Overview Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Med/Surg team. The Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care within the scope of training and certification and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CNA plays an important role in supporting patients with their daily care needs, promoting comfort and safety, and assisting the nursing team in providing high-quality, patient-centered care. This is a great opportunity for an experienced CNA or a newly certified nursing assistant looking to begin or grow their healthcare career. What You'll Do Provide routine patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding Assist with repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and mobility Obtain and document vital signs and other patient information as directed Monitor patients and promptly report changes in condition to the appropriate nursing staff Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable patient environment Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed Answer patient call lights and respond to patient needs in a timely manner Assist nurses and other members of the healthcare team with patient care activities Provide compassionate and respectful care while maintaining patient dignity and privacy Follow infection prevention, safety, HIPAA, and hospital policies and procedures Accurately document care provided according to established guidelines Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned
What You'll Bring Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent, or GED Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant course
Certification Required:
Current Illinois Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Experience Previous CNA or healthcare experience preferred New graduates and newly certified CNAs are welcome to apply Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care Ability to follow instructions and work under the direction of nursing staff Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment Why Join Gateway Regional Medical Center?
