Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
This is a Full-time position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(These duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):
Provide exceptional nursing assistant care to students by assessing health status, responding to school nurse and staff's requests for assistance, and making observations on rounds
Administer first aid, medication, and specialized medical treatments, nursing treatments, procedures, follow doctor orders and individualized care plans to provide appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or other students; observe, identify, and respond to the needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education
Assess situations involving students' other health-related issues, identifying problems, referring for proper treatment, and complying with legal requirements; confer with the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or (LPN) for treatment
Recognize urgent or emergency patient care situations; seek assistance of the RN/LPN and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed or needed
Assist special education and/or medically fragile students and other passengers, provide safe loading and unloading from vans/buses during normal transport and emergency situations if needed
Monitor students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, or parent, ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers
Collaborate with other school personnel to ensure that students' individual care plans are being followed
Other duties to support students academically and socially may be asked to support in the classroom.
Establish constructive relationships with students and their families to promote positive relationships and learning as established by the appropriate treatment plan
Document incidents with or without adverse effect to student and refer to RN for follow-up and/or investigation
Maintain students' confidential files and records, providing information required by legal requirements and professional standards
Support Sudbury Schools as assigned/travel between buildings as necessary
Perform other related duties as required/assigned by Nurse Coordinator, Directors of Student Services or Designee
SCHEDULE
Full-time:
1.0, District- and/or Out-of-District; hours will align with District/Student needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Nursing Assistant Training or higher medical training approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
Applicants must have at least one year of paraprofessional experience in the field of nursing as a certified nursing assistant.
CPR and First Aid certification by a recognized provider.
Ability to establish effective relationships with individuals, families, and team members.
Demonstrated attention to detail with readiness to respond appropriately when needed.
Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
Skilled in the use of a computer for completion of work assignments.
