The instructor will deliver Pawson's established CNA curriculum through classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical instruction; supervise students during clinical training; evaluate student progress throughout instruction; and maintain required educational and regulatory documentation. Pawson provides the program curriculum and lesson plans. The instructor will work closely with school administration to ensure the program is delivered consistently and in accordance with applicable New Jersey Department of Health requirements.

Schedule:
Part-time, cohort-based position. Classes are expected to run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during daytime hours for approximately five weeks per cohort. Most scheduled days will be approximately 6 hours of instruction, generally between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM. Some clinical or testing days may vary based on program and clinical-site requirements. Exact cohort dates and hours will be provided in advance.

  • Deliver classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical instruction in accordance with Pawson's approved CNA curriculum, lesson plans, course schedule, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare for scheduled instruction using the curriculum, lesson plans, instructional materials, and resources provided by Pawson.
  • Demonstrate required nurse aide skills and supervise student practice and return demonstrations.
  • Supervise students during clinical training and promote safe, respectful, and appropriate resident care.
  • Administer and document quizzes, examinations, skills assessments, remediation, and other required student evaluations during the instructional program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records, including attendance, assessment results, skills competency documentation, clinical performance, and other required program records.
  • Identify students who need additional instruction or remediation and communicate concerns promptly to school administration.
  • Maintain a professional, engaging learning environment that encourages participation, accountability, skill development, and quality patient/resident care.
  • Communicate professionally with students, Pawson staff, and personnel at affiliated clinical training facilities.
  • Follow Pawson policies and all applicable requirements governing
CNA/NATCEP
instruction and clinical training.
  • Participate in program-related meetings, documentation, and reasonable administrative activities associated with assigned cohorts. Required Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Jersey.
  • At least three years of full-time or full-time-equivalent experience as a registered nurse in a licensed health care facility.
  • At least one year of registered nursing experience in a licensed long-term care facility within the five years preceding submission for instructor approval, as required by NJDOH.
  • Ability to meet New Jersey Department of Health requirements for NATCEP instructor approval, including completion of any required NJDOH instructor workshop.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence relevant to nurse aide instruction.
  • Strong communication, organization, documentation, and classroom-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school administration and clinical-site personnel.
  • Ability to perform the physical functions necessary to demonstrate and supervise CNA skills in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Ability to work with adult learners from varied educational, professional, and cultural backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications
  • Current NJDOH approval as a NATCEP Instructor.
  • Previous experience teaching or training nurse aides, nursing students, healthcare employees, or adult learners.
  • Experience with lesson delivery, skills evaluation, student remediation, and clinical supervision in a healthcare education setting.
  • Experience working in long-term care and familiarity with the role and responsibilities of Certified Nurse Aides.
Important Program Information Pawson will separately assign an eligible evaluator for required student skills evaluations when applicable. Instructors may not serve as the evaluator for students they have instructed. Employment and instructional assignments are contingent upon satisfaction of applicable credentialing, regulatory, program-approval, and scheduling requirements.
