Support clinical procedures such as catheter care, wound dressing changes, and basic medication administration under supervision. Ensure patient safety by utilizing safe lifting practices with equipment like Hoyer lifts and adhering to infection control protocols including aseptic techniques. Document patient observations thoroughly in medical records while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect confidentiality. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans for patients with complex needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health conditions. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, especially those requiring memory care or residing in long-term or assisted living facilities. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) recognized by the state licensing board. Experience working with geriatric populations or in long-term care facilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation. Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and safe patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts. Critical care experience or background in specialized areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine is advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams caring for individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs.
