Responsibilities Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort. Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support medication administration under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety protocols. Use patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to safely move patients between beds, chairs, and other settings. Maintain patient confidentiality by following HIPAA guidelines and ensuring secure handling of medical records and documentation. Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff, especially in critical care or acute care environments like ICU or emergency medicine units. Assist with specialized care needs including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice support, or behavioral health interventions as required. Support infection control practices using aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or wound management. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams across settings like long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, hospitals, or outpatient clinics. Demonstrate proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and patient data management. Experience Prior experience working as a CNA or in a similar caregiving role within long-term care facilities, hospitals, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification. Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatric patients, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities is advantageous. Familiarity with specialized environments such as ICU, Level I/II trauma centers, pediatric units like PICU or OR settings enhances your candidacy. Proven ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper lifting practices while supporting patients with mobility challenges. Strong communication skills for effective caregiver-patient interactions and team collaboration in fast-paced healthcare settings.
