Overview The Memory Care Director plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of a memory care unit within an assisted living facility. This position is responsible for ensuring high-quality care for residents with memory impairments, fostering a supportive environment, and leading a dedicated team of caregivers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of memory care best practices and regulatory compliance, while also demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized care plans for residents with memory-related conditions. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA standards. Supervise and train staff on best practices in memory care and emergency protocols. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care, including urgent care and critical care needs. Conduct regular assessments of residents' health and well-being, adjusting care plans as necessary. Facilitate family meetings to discuss resident progress and address concerns. Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with facility policies and Epic systems. Promote a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques for residents. Skills Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality. Experience in assisted living or memory care settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with medical-surgical practices and critical care environments. Basic life support certification is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including hospital staff when necessary. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff. Compassionate approach to caregiving, particularly in working with individuals experiencing dementia or other cognitive impairments. Physical capability to assist residents as needed, including lifting when required. This role is essential in providing compassionate care and support to individuals facing the challenges of memory loss while ensuring that the highest standards of service are maintained within the facility.
