Job Description

The School of Business & Professional Studies at Truman State University seeks applicants for two (2) tenure-track or non-tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor positions in Nursing to start August 2027. These positions are full-time, nine-month appointments located on Truman's campus in Kirksville, Missouri. In addition to the duties and responsibilities described below, faculty are expected to contribute to the campus culture of the Liberal Arts and Sciences and interdisciplinarity by teaching in the University's core curriculum (The Dialogues) and contributing to interdisciplinary initiatives and coursework as needed. If applying for a non-tenure-track position, please note those appointments are subject to annual renewal. The initial term of the appointment is three years. Additional three-year terms may continue indefinitely based on the needs and budget of the university and positive performance review.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will contribute to the Nursing program by offering courses, clinicals, and/or labs; area of expertise is open. The positions are expected to teach 12 contact hours per semester, effectively advise Nursing students, and fulfill service obligations within the Nursing Department, the School of Business & Professional Studies, and/or the University, as well as additional venues. All full-time Nursing Department faculty are expected to actively participate in the continuous quality improvement of the Department, and all tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain research/scholarship pursuits.
Required Qualifications:
Required qualifications include A current, active RN license or privilege to practice No current disciplinary action in Missouri No past disciplinary action in Missouri or any other U.S. state or territory Graduate degree from an accredited institution BLS certified Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applicants seeking tenure-track are required to submit a research plan that includes a philosophy of research and demonstrates an ability to conduct research/scholarship that can lead to dissemination
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include Master of Science in Nursing degree Doctoral Degree (earned or in progress) Three (3) years of recent teaching experience Experience supervising students and/or developing/coordinating education programs Experience with learning management platforms Candidate evaluation: All applicants will be evaluated on Qualifications listed above Application materials Teaching/Education presentation Campus interview(s)

The Community:
Located in northeast Missouri, Kirksville is a cultural and economic hub in the region. In addition to being the home of Truman, Kirksville is the birthplace of osteopathic medicine and features a medical school, dental school, and community college. The Kirksville School District is consistently recognized for academic excellence.
