JOB TITLE
: Operating Room Supervisor

ADMIN JOB SUMMARY
The Operating Room Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Operating Room (OR), supporting clinical staff, coordinating OR activities, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant environment. This is a hands-on leadership position that provides support to OR staff while assisting with patient care, staffing needs, breaks, quality initiatives, infection control, safety, and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Participate with the Administrator and appropriate leadership in employee onboarding, introductory-period evaluations, performance reviews, and corrective-action discussions. Monitor compliance with infection prevention protocols and complete required infection control audits, logs, and documentation. Coordinate daily operating room activities, patient flow, staffing assignments, breaks, and clinical coverage. Provide direct patient care by circulating or assisting in Pre-Op/PACU when necessary. Review safety and quality event reports monthly with appropriate leadership to identify trends, risks, and required corrective actions. Coordinate or complete required physician peer-review audits, as assigned. Conduct required monthly safety checks, including emergency lighting and call-light systems. Coordinate, document, and evaluate required emergency-preparedness and safety drills, including fire, disaster, Code Blue, malignant hyperthermia, impaired-provider, and active-shooter drills.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
: Operating room and preop/pacu experience, strong communication and leadership skills, Knowledge of perioperative nursing practices, infection prevention, patient safety, and operating room standards. Working knowledge of applicable CMS and accreditation requirements. Ability to coordinate clinical operations and respond effectively to changing patient-care and staffing needs. Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to coach staff, address performance concerns, and support multidisciplinary teams. Ability to maintain accurate regulatory, quality, and clinical documentation.
E DUCATION/REQUIREMENTS
Nursing degree Current RN license Minimum three years of perioperative nursing experience, including operating room experience, required. BLS certification
