Full Job Description Scope of Position:
UConn Health Waterbury Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic Emergency Department Nurse Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership within our Emergency Department. The Nurse Manager will partner with the Director to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality, and efficient patient care services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position provides leadership to nursing staff and serves as a key partner to physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for managing unit resources, supporting workforce and staffing needs, promoting patient safety and quality outcomes, and ensuring operations align with the hospital's mission, goals, and objectives. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and visible nursing leader who thrives in a fast-paced emergency care environment and is committed to developing teams, improving patient outcomes, and creating an exceptional patient and staff experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clinical and operational leadership for the Emergency Department and ensure safe, high-quality patient care. Manage staffing, scheduling, resources, and daily operations to support 24/7 department needs. Lead, coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff while promoting engagement, accountability, and professional growth. Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to promote effective patient care, communication, and patient flow. Monitor quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and patient care outcomes. Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, competency development, and performance management. Manage departmental resources responsibly and promote fiscal accountability. Identify and implement opportunities to improve patient care, efficiency, patient experience, and department performance. Collaborate with the Director and organizational leaders to achieve departmental and hospital goals. Serve as a visible nursing leader and promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and patient-centered care. Required Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut or license eligible. BSN or bachelor's degree in a related field required. Minimum of five (5) years of acute care nursing experience. Demonstrated leadership experience. Current managerial/supervisory experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Full Time, Days, 40 HR Days 7am-3pm
