Nursing Manager - Licensed Health Professional Support (LHPS) Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy - Lillington, NC Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Day Shift About Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy is an independent, closed-door long-term care pharmacy serving assisted living and other residential care communities throughout North Carolina. Our relationship with our facilities goes beyond dispensing medications. We work closely with facility owners, administrators, caregivers, medication aides, and healthcare professionals to support resident care, regulatory compliance, staff education, and successful facility operations. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to serve as our Nursing Manager - Licensed Health Professional Support (LHPS). Position Summary The Nursing Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy's nursing services and serves as one of the company's primary representatives within the facilities we serve. The Nursing Manager supervises and coordinates Cape Fear's full-time, part-time, and consulting nurses; provides and oversees LHPS and other clinical services; coordinates facility training needs; develops strong relationships with our customers; and represents Cape Fear at facility meetings, industry events, trade shows, and prospective-customer meetings. We are looking for more than an experienced nurse. The successful candidate must be a strong communicator, effective leader, practical problem-solver, and someone with sound business judgment. This individual must be comfortable making independent decisions while understanding when an issue should be elevated to pharmacy leadership. The Nursing Manager is expected to balance resident care, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, employee management, and the business interests of Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy when making decisions. Primary Responsibilities Nursing Team Management & Scheduling Supervise and coordinate all full-time, part-time, and consulting nurses providing services on behalf of Cape Fear. Manage nursing schedules and facility assignments to ensure appropriate coverage of LHPS services, resident assessments, staff training, competency validations, and other facility needs. Work closely with each facility to identify and coordinate ongoing and upcoming training needs and incorporate those needs into the nursing team's schedule. Manage call-outs, vacations, scheduling changes, and other absences to maintain continuity of service to our facilities. Prioritize and distribute assignments based on facility needs, regulatory requirements, deadlines, geography, and efficient use of nursing resources. Serve as the primary point of contact for nursing staff when questions, facility concerns, or unusual situations arise. Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and consistent customer service throughout the nursing team. Keep pharmacy leadership informed of significant staffing, facility, clinical, training, or customer-service issues. Licensed Health Professional Support (LHPS) Provide and oversee Licensed Health Professional Support services in accordance with applicable North Carolina Adult Care Home and Family Care Home requirements. Perform required LHPS evaluations, resident assessments, and follow-up. Assess residents as related to their diagnoses, current conditions, treatments, and health-related services being provided. Evaluate residents' response and progress related to care being provided. Identify and recommend appropriate changes or follow-up when concerns are identified. Ensure required LHPS documentation is completed accurately and within required timeframes. Maintain knowledge of current North Carolina requirements applicable to LHPS services and the facilities served by Cape Fear. Staff Competency & Training Validate applicable skills and competencies of medication aides, Personal Care Aides, CNAs, and other facility staff as permitted or required by North Carolina regulations. Perform medication administration skills validations for facility staff as applicable. Develop, coordinate, and provide educational programs based on regulatory requirements and individual facility needs. Provide or coordinate training in areas such as medication administration, personal care, CPR, infection control, and other applicable clinical topics. Provide retraining or additional education when competency concerns are identified. Assist facilities in preparing staff to safely and confidently perform assigned resident-care responsibilities. Provide other clinical services, including TB testing and related documentation, when applicable. Facility Relationship & Regulatory Support Serve as a primary nursing and clinical representative of Cape Fear within customer facilities and develop strong relationships with facility owners, administrators, staff, and healthcare professionals. Maintain regular communication with facilities to understand their clinical, training, regulatory, and service needs. Work closely with facility leadership and staff before, during, and following state regulatory surveys and inspections, providing appropriate support within Cape Fear's scope of services. Assist facilities with appropriate follow-up, education, and corrective support related to regulatory concerns. Coordinate with Cape Fear pharmacists and pharmacy leadership when medication-related, clinical, or significant customer issues are identified. Respond to facility needs and concerns in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner. Exercise sound independent judgment, recognizing when an issue can be resolved directly and when pharmacy leadership or ownership should be involved. Identify service opportunities, recurring concerns, or potential risks and communicate them to pharmacy leadership. Marketing & Business Development Represent Cape Fear at trade shows, conferences, facility events, association meetings, and other industry events. Participate in meetings and presentations with current and prospective customers when nursing or clinical expertise would be beneficial. Help communicate the value of Cape Fear's nursing, LHPS, training, medication-management, and other facility services. Support customer retention, relationship-building, marketing, and business-development efforts. Schedule & Travel Full-time position. Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Regular travel to customer facilities throughout Cape Fear Long Term Care Pharmacy's service area is an essential part of this position. The Nursing Manager should expect to spend a significant amount of time working directly within customer facilities. Travel may be required for facility visits, LHPS services, training, regulatory surveys and inspections, customer meetings, trade shows, conferences, and other business activities. Schedule flexibility is required based on facility needs, nursing-team coverage, regulatory activity, training schedules, and other business needs. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Qualifications Required Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina and in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills. Ability to lead and coordinate the work of other nursing professionals. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer-service skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions. Strong organizational, scheduling, and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple facilities, priorities, deadlines, and changing circumstances. Comfortable using electronic documentation systems, eMAR platforms, and standard computer applications. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Cape Fear's service area. Preferred Experience in assisted living, adult care homes, long-term care, geriatrics, home health, or a related setting. Working knowledge of North Carolina Adult Care Home and Family Care Home regulations. Previous experience providing or overseeing LHPS services. Previous supervisory or nursing-management experience. Experience training or validating medication aides, PCAs, CNAs, or other direct-care staff. Experience working with facilities during regulatory surveys or inspections. CPR Instructor certification or willingness to obtain certification after hire. Experience providing continuing education, employee training, or staff-development programs. Experience with customer relations, presentations, marketing, or business development is a plus. What We're Looking For We are looking for more than strong nursing skills.
