Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-4:00 PM Full-Time Make a Difference Through Nutrition & Resident Care Are you passionate about nutrition and enjoy working with seniors? Alta Mesa Health & Rehabilitation is looking for a Diet Technician to join our Nutrition Services team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships with residents while playing an important role in their overall health, nutrition, and well-being. As a Diet Technician, you'll work closely with residents, dietary staff, nursing, the interdisciplinary team, and our Consultant Registered Dietitian (RD) to help ensure residents receive appropriate nutrition, quality meals, and individualized dietary support. You won't just be behind a desk. You'll have regular opportunities to visit residents, learn their food preferences, monitor nutritional needs, and make a direct impact on their quality of life. What You'll Do Visit residents and complete nutrition screenings and nutritional assessments as appropriate Complete initial, quarterly, and annual nutrition assessments Visit residents at least once each quarter and document visits appropriately Learn and document resident food preferences Explain diets and provide nutrition-related education to residents and families as appropriate Monitor residents who may be at nutritional risk, including those experiencing weight changes, pressure injuries, renal concerns, or tube feeding needs Assist with MDS, Care Area Assessments (CAAs), and care plans Ensure nutrition documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory requirements Keep resident food preferences, tray cards, nourishment lists, and other nutrition information current Assist with Significant Weight Logs and nutrition monitoring Participate in Wound/Weight Intervention and Nutrition Support (WINS) or Nutrition at Risk (NAR) committees as appropriate Assist with monthly diet order audits Communicate regularly with the Consultant RD and maintain the RD Log Work closely with the Food Service Manager, dietary staff, nursing, and other members of the interdisciplinary team What We're Looking For Graduate of an approved Dietary Manager, Diet Technician, or Dietitian program that meets applicable state and long-term care requirements Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English Comfortable working with residents, families, and healthcare professionals Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary care team Genuine interest in working with senior residents and understanding their unique needs Must be able to meet the physical and mental requirements of the position DTR or CDM credential is a plus!
