We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist to join a supportive school district in Plainfield, Illinois for the 20262027 school year . This full-time opportunity focuses on an elementary caseload , helping students with visual impairments develop the mobility and independence skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Position Details Elementary school caseload 20262027 school year Collaborative special education team Competitive weekly pay Benefits available for eligible employees Responsibilities Provide direct Orientation & Mobility services to students with visual impairments in accordance with their IEPs Conduct O&M assessments and contribute to evaluation reports Develop individualized mobility goals and instructional plans Teach safe travel skills in school, home, and community environments as appropriate Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education guidelines Qualifications Certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) Experience working with school-aged students Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with multidisciplinary teams Why Join Us?
