A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide services just two days per week, offering the flexibility to make an impact while maintaining work-life balance. This long-term assignment begins as soon as possible and extends through June 2027.

Key Qualifications:

Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Experience working in school settings or with children and adolescents preferred Strong collaborative skills to work with special education teams, teachers, and families Proficient in designing and implementing O&M programs tailored to individual student needs Knowledge of assessment practices, adaptive technology, and mobility tools for students with visual impairments Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to travel to sites as needed within the area

Role Responsibilities:

Conduct orientation and mobility assessments and devise individualized instruction plans for students with visual impairments Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families to support student goals Provide direct instruction in safe and independent travel skills, both indoors and outdoors Introduce and train students in the use of adaptive technology, mobility aids, and environmental cues Maintain thorough records of student progress and prepare detailed reports as required Participate in IEP meetings and contribute thoughtful recommendations for student success Stay current on best practices in O&M and participate in ongoing professional development Enjoy the chance to work with a dedicated, student-focused team and help foster greater independence for learners in the Olympia area.
