Job Description
Rehabilitation Technician Position Summary The Rehabilitation Technician (Rehab Tech) supports the daily operations of the rehabilitation department within a Skilled Nursing Facility. This role provides administrative, clerical, and patient support services to ensure efficient department function and compliance with federal and state regulations, including CMS guidelines. The Rehab Tech may assist with patient-related activities only under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist, in accordance with Medicare regulations and applicable state laws. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, organized, and patient-centered therapy environment. Key Responsibilities Administrative & Clerical Support Perform clerical duties including data entry, filing, scheduling, and documentation support. Answer and direct phone calls in a professional and timely manner. Maintain organized filing systems (electronic and paper). Assist with therapy scheduling and coordinate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams as needed. Support compliance-related administrative tasks such as obtaining physician signatures and tracking required documentation. Department & Operational Support Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance with CMS, state guidelines, and facility policies. Prepare and maintain therapy treatment areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness. Monitor and restock supplies and equipment as needed. Coordinate work activities with rehabilitation staff and other facility departments. Participate in department and facility meetings, as assigned. Contribute to performance improvement initiatives. Patient & Team Support Assist therapists with non-skilled patient-related tasks under direct supervision only. Provide general assistance and support to patients, residents, and visitors. Transport patients to and from therapy areas as needed. Demonstrate a positive, team-oriented approach. Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient needs and scheduling. Safety & Compliance Act promptly and responsibly in emergency situations. Report unusual incidents or concerns to the Administrator or supervisor. Maintain awareness of patient safety at all times. Adhere to infection control policies and safety procedures. Additional Duties Attend work consistently and provide proper notice for planned absences. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or Director of Rehabilitation.
