Position Summary:
A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities, regain independence, and achieve functional goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist. Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, and functional skills. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, bathing, and feeding. Provide exercises and interventions to improve fine motor skills, balance, and coordination. Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and adaptive techniques. Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Assist with transfers, positioning, and use of adaptive equipment. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR. Requirements Current COTA certification through NBCOT, as required. Active COTA license in the applicable state. Current BLS certification , if required by the facility.
