Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) - OhanaCare PPECJob Summary OhanaCare PPEC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our interdisciplinary team in providing exceptional care to medically complex infants and children in a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) setting. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the OTA will implement individualized treatment plans that promote functional independence, developmental progress, sensory regulation, and participation in meaningful daily activities. Duties Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Provide direct therapy services to infants and children with developmental delays, genetic disorders, neurological conditions, feeding challenges, and other complex medical diagnoses. Facilitate age-appropriate fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-care, and play-based activities to support developmental milestones. Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, positioning, and mobility as appropriate. Monitor patient progress and communicate observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist to support ongoing treatment planning. Accurately document therapy sessions and patient progress in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. Collaborate with nurses, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, physicians, and caregivers to provide coordinated, comprehensive care. Educate parents and caregivers on therapeutic strategies and home programs to promote continued progress outside of therapy. Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging therapy environment while following infection control and safety procedures. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, team collaboration, and continuing education opportunities. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program. Current Florida Occupational Therapy Assistant license in good standing. CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred; experience in a PPEC, early intervention, outpatient pediatric clinic, or school setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of child development, sensory integration principles, and pediatric therapeutic techniques. Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic attitude with a passion for helping children reach their full potential. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality patient care.
