The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA/OTA) assists the registered occupational therapy in various activities of treatment programs to facilitate functional recovery, as well as administering, monitoring and documenting patient care. The
COTA/OTA
is actively involved in department activities, transdisciplinary team activities, and Riverside Hospital activities to ensure individualized, patient-centered health care for all patient populations admitted to Riverside Hospital. Responsibilities Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs. Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility, fostering independence and confidence. Help facilitate treatment sessions focused on improving motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive functions across various age groups. Ensure accurate care documentation by recording patient progress, treatment details, and care notes in compliance with healthcare standards. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals such as physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and caregivers to optimize treatment outcomes. Engage with clients' families or caregivers through effective communication about care routines and progress updates. Maintain knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and occupational therapy best practices to provide high-quality support across inpatient, outpatient, home health, skilled nursing facility, and clinic settings. Skills Proven experience assisting with ADLs Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to occupational therapy interventions. Excellent communication skills for engaging with patients' families and collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Ability to perform manual handling safely while supporting patient mobility and transfers. Experience working in acute care environments or skilled nursing facilities is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to occupational health, geriatrics, neurodevelopmental disorders, and disabilities. Skilled in documenting care activities accurately while adhering to healthcare regulations and standards. Adaptability to diverse clinical settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, home health visits, or outpatient therapy centers.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
