Job Description

Join Norman Regional Health System as an Occupational Therapy Assistant supporting patient-centered rehabilitation within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you'll collaborate with Occupational Therapists to deliver evidence-based treatments that improve patients' independence, safety, and quality of life. Responsibilities include carrying out treatment plans, guiding therapeutic activities, documenting progress, and educating patients and families. You'll work in a supportive, team-focused environment that values empathy, respect, professional growth, and ongoing education while serving the greater Norman community. Responsibilities Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans to improve patients' daily living and functional skills Guide patients through therapeutic activities and exercises, ensuring safety and proper technique Document patient progress, responses to treatment, and report changes to supervising therapists Prepare and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies in compliance with safety and infection-control standards Educate patients and families on home programs, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive devices Collaborate with the care team to support patient-centered goals and discharge planning Uphold regulatory, ethical, and documentation standards for Occupational Therapy services Participate in continuing education, in-services, and quality-improvement initiatives Required Skills Therapeutic exercise implementation Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training Functional mobility and transfer training Use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology Patient and family education Clinical documentation and EMR proficiency Understanding of rehabilitation principles and OT frameworks Infection control and patient safety practices Interdisciplinary team collaboration Time management and caseload prioritization
