Optometrist or Office Manager Job Summary We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Optometric Technician/Assistant to support patient care and clinical operations. The successful candidate will prepare patients for examinations, obtain medical and ocular histories, perform preliminary testing, document information in the electronic medical record, assist the optometrist, and help maintain efficient patient flow. Essential Duties

  • Greet and assist patients professionally throughout their visit.
  • Obtain and document medical, ocular, medication, allergy, family, and chief-complaint information.
  • Perform preliminary testing as trained and directed, including visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, retinal photography, and other diagnostic tests.
  • Ensure testing results are accurate and notify the doctor of unreliable or concerning findings.
  • Prepare examination rooms, equipment, and patients for examinations.
  • Enter complete and accurate information into the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with procedures, patient education, contact lens instruction, referrals, and follow-up as directed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and office policies.
  • Monitor patient flow, communicate delays, and help patients understand the next steps in their visit.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and examination rooms; report supply or equipment needs.
  • Work cooperatively with doctors and front desk, optical, and clinical staff.
  • Participate in training, meetings, cross-training, and other related duties. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer-service skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical records and ophthalmic equipment.
  • Accuracy, dependability, punctuality, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Prior experience in optometry, ophthalmology, medical offices, patient care, or customer service preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills and experience with electronic medical records or diagnostic testing are preferred.
