About the Unit/Department/Team The Optical team at Lakewood Health System provides patients with high-quality eyewear solutions and optical services that support vision care. Working closely with optometrists, technicians, and clinic staff, the team ensures patients receive personalized recommendations, proper fittings, and education on eyewear options and care. Mission for Position Support high-quality vision care by assisting patients with eyewear selection, fittings, and adjustments while ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment and excellent patient experience. Duties & Responsibilities The Optician assists patients in selecting, fitting, and adjusting eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other corrective eyewear based on prescriptions from optometrists or ophthalmologists. This role ensures proper lens fabrication, accurate interpretation of prescriptions, and high-quality eyewear dispensing while delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include assisting patients with frame and lens selection, taking precise optical measurements, fitting and adjusting eyewear, processing orders and insurance transactions, maintaining inventory and displays, and educating patients on proper eyewear care and use. The Optician works collaboratively with providers and clinic staff to support efficient optical operations and a positive patient experience. Position Type This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or GED required.
ABO certification or state optician licensure preferred (if applicable). Ideal Candidate Strong understanding of optical terminology, lens type, and frame fitting techniques.
Strong attention to detail/accuracy in measurements and order processing.
Demonstrates strong customer service and patient communication skills.
Maintains attention to detail in optical measurements and order accuracy.
Educates patients clearly on lens options, frame selection, and eyewear care.
Creates a welcoming retail environment that promotes patient satisfaction.
