Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Optometrist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of ophthalmic care, patient examination procedures, and optical services. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for conducting thorough eye examinations, diagnosing vision and health issues, and providing tailored treatment plans to enhance patient well-being. Responsibilities Perform detailed ophthalmic examinations, including assessment of visual acuity, refraction, and ocular health evaluations. Utilize ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment and tonometry devices to identify eye conditions and disease states. Diagnose common and complex eye disorders, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal conditions, ensuring accurate medical assessments. Fit contact lenses and recommend appropriate corrective eyewear based on individual patient needs. Manage patient care by developing treatment plans, providing medical treatments, and monitoring progress over time. Maintain precise medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Educate patients on eye health, disease prevention, and proper use of prescribed medications or corrective devices. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment safely and effectively during examinations. Collaborate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient management and referrals when necessary. Ensure aseptic techniques are followed during all procedures to maintain a sterile environment. Requirements Valid license to practice optometry with certification in ophthalmology or related fields. Proven experience in optical services, ophthalmic diagnosis, and patient care within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and disease states related to the eye and visual system. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and medical coding practices. Proficiency in using ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as tonometers and other medical devices. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly to patients. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with patient privacy standards. Experience in contact lens fitting, pediatric eye examinations, and disease management preferred. Ability to operate medical equipment accurately while maintaining high standards of aseptic technique. Customer service orientation with a focus on delivering compassionate care in a professional environment.
