In this role, you will serve as a vital link between patient, medical staff, and the family ensuring a positive experience by assisting with companion activities, monitoring patient well-being, and facilitating effective communication. The patient has HD 3 days a week. You will accompany her and will paid separately by the insurance company. This position is for the days she's not in HD. Your energetic approach and empathetic nature will help create a welcoming environment that promotes healing and patient satisfaction. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient care while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic healthcare setting. Responsibilities Assist patients with daily activities such as mobility, hygiene, and nourishment to promote comfort and independence Support family and patient with tasks including keeping her company, engaging her with games such as cards, puzzles, etc. This position is mainly to keep her company and providing us notices when/if she has any.changes to her health. Facilitate effective communication between patient and medical teams by providing clear explanations of any changes Qualifications Prior experience in medical office management, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient settings is highly preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical documentation standards Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medical assisting are advantageous Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems), EMR systems, and hospital information systems (HIS) is essential Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate empathy in high-pressure environments Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, medical-surgical units, or internal medicine is desirable Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform physically demanding tasks safely Join our team as a Patient Companion to deliver compassionate care that enhances the patient experience.
