Job Description

We are currently seeking Yoga Instructors to lead a variety of classes on an as-needed basis at both the Paul Derda Recreation Center and Broomfield Community Center. About the Position The Yoga Instructor provides safe, effective, and engaging instruction in yoga, physical stretching, breathing, and relaxation techniques for participants with varying levels of fitness, skill, experience, and ability. The instructor leads yoga and mat-based exercises designed to promote flexibility, strength, balance, mobility, and relaxation. Instruction should be adapted to meet the needs and abilities of participants while emphasizing proper technique, safety, and appropriate modifications.
Salary Range:
$24.13 - $32.65/hour All employees receive a FREE pass to the Broomfield Recreation Facilities Prepare class format/content appropriate for the type of class and level of participants. Develop music playlists appropriate for the level of class being instructed. Lead participants in physical stretching and relaxation exercises appropriate for the level of the class. Independently monitor class participants to ensure proper use of equipment and proper training/exercise techniques. Interact with class participants and demonstrate exercises or training activities that may include the following actions: stepping, bending, stretching, full body movement, etc. Provide appropriate warm-up and cool-down. Instruct participants in proper use of exercise heart rates. Monitor proper clothing/shoes of participants. Provide a safe class environment. Provide feedback to class participants. Provide proper instruction for various muscle groups including mat work or dry-land work. Training Must possess and maintain a current recognized Yoga certification. Must possess a valid American Red Cross CPR certification. Experience Six months teaching yoga in a formal class setting.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(in addition to above requirements): New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry. Must be at least 18 years of age. Physical demands are described as light (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position requires a full range of physical abilities including: performing and maintaining yoga exercises, bending, and stretching. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision. Must provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the participant during instruction, which includes a full range of physical abilities, including: performing and maintaining aerobic exercise, bending, stretching, and lifting minimal weight. Work is generally scheduled in advance with classes scheduled Monday through Sunday and may include early morning hours, afternoon hours, and evening hours.
