As a key member of the Aquatics team, a Water Fitness Instructor is responsible for proactive communication and maintaining a safe pool atmosphere while preventing accidents. The main purpose of this position is to instruct YMCA Water Fitness classes and provide a positive role model in a well-organized, professional attitude and appearance.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful and welcoming nature. Excellent customer service and verbal skills Consistent positive attitude Ability to work with all age groups and ability levels Maintain all required certifications Be on deck 15 minutes prior to class to greet participants; get all equipment set up before class begins and put away after class ends Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required by Director
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Team player with personal commitment to the YMCA Mission, Philosophy, & Character Development Values Provide safe and challenging Water Fitness classes to our members Minimum 18 years of age and show the technical ability to lead a water fitness class Stay informed and knowledgeable in the area of water fitness/healthy lifestyles Responsible for scheduled shifts and, if necessary, follow the appropriate substitute procedures YMCA Water Fitness Certification or AEA equivalent (within 6 months of employment) People centered, service oriented
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Be able to project voice and hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment Have the ability to teach both on deck as well as in the pool Be able to work in a wet/humid environment and come in contact with chlorinated water Be able to lift at least 25 pounds Noise level-High The YMCA of Greater Louisville is an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
