Job Description

Position Purpose The Fitness Instructor promotes health, wellness, and active aging by planning and leading safe, engaging, and effective fitness programs for residents and Brewster Connect members. This position is responsible for conducting both land-based and aquatic exercise classes designed to improve strength, balance, flexibility, endurance, and overall well-being while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for participants of varying abilities. Key Responsibilities/Duties Plan, organize, and instruct a variety of group and individual fitness classes, including land-based and aquatic exercise programs. Adapt exercises to accommodate residents with varying physical abilities, mobility levels, and health conditions. Provide modifications and individual guidance to promote safe participation. Monitor participants during classes to ensure proper technique, safety, and appropriate intensity. Encourage resident participation while creating an enjoyable, motivating, and inclusive atmosphere. Stay current on best practices in senior fitness and wellness through continuing education. Maintain, assess, and track usage of wellness center equipment. Support other Resident Services department activities as needed. The most significant duties have been included in this description. Education:
Education, training or experience in group exercise, health, fitness or wellness programming and instruction
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in teaching/instructing group exercise classes.
Certification:
N/A Any preferred education/skills/certifications: Two or four year degree in Exercise Science or closely related discipline. One or more certifications from National Fitness Organizations in Group Exercise, Health, Fitness or Wellness group exercise programming and instruction. Experience with the older adult population.
