East Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose To provide members with safe, effective, and educational group fitness classes. Essential Duties Lead and instruct group fitness classes in a variety of exercise formats that offer quality content to a wide range of fitness and ability levels in a safe manner. Available to speak with members before and after class. Responsible for clean and organized studios, return equipment to proper storage units after class. Report any broken equipment to manager, record class attendance. Arrange for substitute instructors upon absence from class and assist with subbing other classes. Attend all departmental meetings. Provide exceptional customer service that upholds the standards set forth by the Michigan Athletic Club and Sparrow Health System. Other duties and special projects as assigned. Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve. Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures. Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information. Maintains and protects patients' rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards. YogaFit, Aerial, Stott Pilate's, PMA, Peak Specialty Classes must possess specific certification in addition to Nationally recognized Group Fitness or Personal Training certification i.e. ZUMBA, Kettle Bell, TRX, etc. Work Experience Minimum of 1 year of previous teaching experience Education High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Ability to modify class instruction for all experience and fitness levels Demonstrated effective verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively as part of a team Strong customer service skills, willingness to assist members Ability to serve as a role model for fitness and wellness Looking to fill any or all fitness positions below: Monday 8 a.m. Body Pump Monday 9 a.m. Shapes Monday 10 a.m. Zumba Monday 12 p.m. Traditional Mat Pilates (need Aug 17th) Tues/Thursday TRX Instructor 9 a.m. Friday 10 a.m. Zumba Barre (Sub only)- 9 a.m. Mon-Friday and Sunday.
