Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Direct Hire This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a licensed Florida pharmacist with robust experience in sterile compounding and pharmacy leadership. The role focuses on pharmacy management in a low-volume setting processing approximately 100 prescriptions daily, including 15-20 chemotherapy preparations, and requires a blend of clinical expertise and operational oversight in infusion pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret and verify physician medication orders accurately. Perform and oversee sterile compounding, ensuring strict adherence to USP and USP guidelines. Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations. Review medication profiles for allergies, interactions, dosing appropriateness, and compatibility. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians and nurses. Supervise, mentor, and lead pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff. Maintain aseptic technique, cleanroom standards, and environmental monitoring. Manage quality assurance programs, medication safety protocols, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Oversee inventory management and controlled substances handling. Develop and enforce pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs. Lead staff meetings and ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, DEA, and State Board of Pharmacy requirements. Adhere to all safety regulations by using appropriate PPE in designated work areas. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active Florida pharmacist license in good standing. 3-5 years of experience with hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding, compliant with USP, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations. Pharmacy management experience is essential. Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and time management skills. Recent (within 3-5 years) experience in home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy preferred. Ability to work effectively in a sterile compounding environment.
