Category Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist Job Type Contract A Clinical Pharmacist role is available on a 13-week contract assignment in Portsmouth, VA, offering multiple shift options to fit varying schedules, including day, evening, and overnight hours: Day shifts: 0630-1500, 0730-1600, 0900-1730, 1000-1830 Evening shifts: 1300-2130, 1430-2300 Overnight shifts: 1930-0730, 2030- This position requires an active Virginia pharmacist license at the time of application. Candidates must have at least 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience, with travel experience considered a plus. Proficiency in EMR systems is mandatory, with firm experience in EPIC charting highly preferred.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing medication order entry and verification with accuracy and attention to detail Administering and managing IV medications, pain-controlled analgesia, and antibiotics Monitoring drug interactions to ensure patient safety Supporting chemotherapy medication management, anticoagulants handling, and applying pharmacokinetic and renal dosing principles (preferred) Qualifications and desired experience: Valid VA pharmacist license (required) Minimum 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience Strong knowledge of IV medications and pain management protocols Familiarity with antibiotic therapies and drug interaction analysis Experience with EPIC electronic medical records (required) Chemotherapy, anticoagulant, pharmacokinetic, and renal dosing experience (preferred) This contract role provides an excellent opportunity to apply clinical pharmacy skills in a dynamic inpatient setting while working flexible shifts that align with your lifestyle.
