Job Summary We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our long-term care pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Technician will support pharmacists with prescription processing, medication preparation, packaging, inventory management, and daily pharmacy operations while ensuring accuracy and excellent service to our long-term care facility partners and patients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to patient safety and teamwork. Key Responsibilities Process prescription orders accurately and efficiently under pharmacist supervision. Prepare, package, label, and organize medications for long-term care patients. Assist with medication dispensing and order entry according to pharmacy policies and procedures. Communicate professionally with pharmacists, nurses, facility staff, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals. Respond to telephone calls and inquiries in a courteous and professional manner. Review medication orders for completeness and communicate discrepancies to the pharmacist. Assist with medication cycle fills, refill requests, emergency medication requests, and delivery preparation. Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation. Assist with inventory management, including receiving, stocking, rotating, and monitoring medications and supplies. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area. Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, HIPAA requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations. Work independently and prioritize tasks effectively while meeting deadlines. Identify problems or discrepancies and promptly communicate them to the pharmacist or appropriate supervisor. Assist other pharmacy team members when needed to ensure smooth daily operations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge or pharmacy management. Qualifications Current Pharmacy Technician registration/certification as required by state regulations. Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred; long-term care pharmacy experience is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Professional and positive attitude. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team. Basic computer skills and ability to learn pharmacy software systems. Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality service. Preferred Skills Long-term care pharmacy experience. Experience with medication packaging and cycle fills. Experience working with nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, or other healthcare settings. Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and medication procedures.
