Job Description

We are looking for a dependable Pharmacy Technician that is able to provide quality customer service when assisting them with their prescriptions and over the counter needs. You will undertake other tasks under the direction of a pharmacist and ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly. As a pharmacy technician you must be detail-oriented and reliable since the job has high responsibility. You must possess excellent communication skills as well as aptitude in using computers. Responsibilities Sterilize surfaces and equipment and prepare the pharmacy for business Greet customers and answer questions Receive prescriptions and check their validity Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate Assist with pharmacy programs: immunizations, medication therapy management Resolve issues when they arise (e.g. rejected insurance claims) Select the appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions Sort, stock, label medication and monitor inventory Undertake administrative tasks (e.g.record-keeping) as assigned Comply with all security measures and quality standards Delivery of medications to patients home or work Complete customer transactions Skills Proven experience as pharmacy technician Experience with prescription system (e.g. Prime Rx) Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology Excellent communication and customer service skills Outstanding organizational skills Reliable with a keen eye for detail Compounding Medications Physical Demands Standing / walking for an extended period of time Near vision; ability to see details at close range to perform activities such as: transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts Ability to push and pull objects, including drawers and other items of similar weight, as well as reaching overhead. Ability to handle and work with small instruments and objects. Bending/squatting/leaning to a considerable degree and requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Is able to load and unload trays/cases/totes (30 pound maximum to a height of 4 feet). Auditory attention; ability to focus on a single source of sound in the presence of other distracting sounds. Effective verbal communication; expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, especially when detailed or important instructions must be conveyed accurately. Ability to move quickly from one task to another according to the needs of the pharmacy. The ability to concentrate on a task for significant periods of time. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting. Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician. National Certification from an accredited pharmacy technician certification program approved by specific state regulations (e.g. PTCB, ExCPT, etc.) Spanish speaking Compounding Experience Education High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
