JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Tech I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for supporting the pharmacy's operational efficiency and patient care. This includes accurately dispensing medications, maintaining inventory levels, interacting with healthcare professionals, and assisting pharmacists in various tasks. The role demands strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently under supervision, contributing to the smooth functioning of the pharmacy department.
JOB FUNCTIONS
People:
Interact with internal and external staff to promote the hospital's mission and vision.
Service:
Assist Pharmacist in filling medication orders according to policy and procedures. Deliver medications. Perform required record keeping.
Quality:
Responsible for dispensing medication in an accurate and efficient manner. Perform monthly review of inventory for out of date medications.
Financial:
Responsible for monitory medication inventory levels. Responsible for checking in medication shipments. Responsible for notifying appropriate personnel of supply needs. Responsible for repacking bulk medications into unit dose packaging. Responsible for daily restocking of medications.
Growth:
Routine interaction with departmental staff and supervisor to provided improvements to the medication process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or equivalent. Required Licenses and Certifications . Must be currently registered or seeking registration (30 days from hire to complete) with the State Board of Pharmacy;. Upon Hire. Required And . Must be currently certified at a Pharmacy Tech by the Pharmacy Tech Credentialing Board (PTCB) or other acceptable credentialling organization.. Upon Hire. Preferred Or . In lieu of technician registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, a student pharmacist registered as an intern with the State Board of Pharmacy is acceptable.. Upon Hire. Required Work Experience . Prior Pharmacy Tech experience in either hospital or retail setting;. Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to work well with a wide variety of people, required Good written and verbal communication required Must be highly motivated in order to manage time appropriately Must be able to work independently under supervision of a Pharmacist Must work closely with all Pharmacy team members and Healthcare professionals Must communicate daily with employees and depends who need prescriptions filled Good written and verbal communication Physical Demands A thorough completion of this section is needed for compliance with legal standards such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
