Job Description College Park Pharmacy is a growing independent pharmacy in The Woodlands, TX specializing in Long-Term Care (LTC), Assisted Living, Hospice, and Retail pharmacy services . We are seeking an experienced Lead Pharmacy Technician to help oversee our technician team and day-to-day pharmacy operations. LTC & ComputerRx Experience Strongly Preferred Because a significant portion of this role involves supporting our Long-Term Care and facility-based pharmacy operations, previous LTC pharmacy experience is highly preferred . We also strongly prefer candidates with ComputerRx experience who are already comfortable navigating the system and working efficiently within a high-volume pharmacy workflow. Candidates with both Long-Term Care pharmacy experience and ComputerRx experience will be given strong consideration. This is a hands-on leadership position. The Lead Pharmacy Technician will work directly alongside our pharmacists, technicians, delivery drivers, and pharmacy management while helping coordinate workflow, staffing, ticketing, facility requests, delivery routes, and after-hours operations. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, accountable, comfortable leading others, and able to take ownership when problems arise. Key Responsibilities Pharmacy Workflow & Prescription Processing Help oversee and coordinate the daily pharmacy technician workflow Work alongside the technician team with prescription processing, data entry, filling, packaging, and preparation Monitor prescription queues and ensure prescriptions are completed accurately and on time Prioritize prescriptions based on urgency, facility needs, STAT requests, and delivery deadlines Coordinate cycle fills and recurring prescriptions for Long-Term Care and Assisted Living patients Assist with blister packaging, unit-dose packaging, and other facility-specific medication packaging Troubleshoot prescription processing issues, insurance rejections, refill requests, and workflow concerns Work closely with pharmacists to resolve prescription, insurance, inventory, and operational issues Help ensure medications are completed and staged appropriately before delivery routes leave the pharmacy Long-Term Care & Facility Operations Help manage pharmacy workflow for our Long-Term Care, Assisted Living, and Hospice partners Understand and prioritize the needs of facility-based patients and healthcare providers Coordinate medication requests, refill requests, cycle fills, STAT orders, and facility-specific needs Communicate professionally with nurses, facility staff, hospice teams, physician offices, caregivers, and other healthcare partners Help ensure facility requests and outstanding issues are followed through to completion Identify recurring facility or workflow concerns and work with pharmacy management to improve processes Help maintain the level of responsiveness and reliability expected by our LTC and facility partners Technician Leadership & Scheduling Help oversee the day-to-day performance and workflow of pharmacy technicians Create and maintain pharmacy technician schedules Coordinate staffing based on pharmacy workload and operational needs Help manage call-outs, schedule changes, coverage gaps, and staffing issues Assign technician responsibilities and ensure work is distributed appropriately Monitor technician productivity, accuracy, and completion of assigned responsibilities Train and onboard new pharmacy technicians Provide ongoing coaching, direction, and support to the technician team Lead by example and step in to assist the team wherever needed Help establish expectations and hold team members accountable Communicate staffing, performance, or workflow concerns to pharmacy management ComputerRx Use ComputerRx as part of the pharmacy's daily prescription and workflow operations Monitor and manage prescription queues Assist with prescription processing and troubleshooting Help identify and resolve workflow issues within the pharmacy system Support technicians who need assistance navigating prescription processing issues Work efficiently within ComputerRx to help keep prescriptions moving through the pharmacy workflow Previous hands-on ComputerRx experience is strongly preferred for this position. Ticketing & Task Management Monitor, assign, manage, and follow up on pharmacy tickets and outstanding requests Review incoming tickets and assign tasks to the appropriate team member Prioritize tickets based on urgency, patient needs, facility requests, and delivery deadlines Follow up on open tickets to make sure they are completed Ensure outstanding tasks have clear ownership and do not fall through the cracks Escalate pharmacist-only, clinical, or management-level concerns appropriately Help identify recurring issues and implement better processes with pharmacy management Delivery & Route Coordination Create, organize, and assign delivery routes to pharmacy delivery drivers Coordinate deliveries based on facility locations, urgency, delivery deadlines, and prescription readiness Make adjustments as new orders, STAT requests, pickups, or other needs arise Communicate route assignments and changes to drivers Coordinate with technicians to ensure prescriptions are completed and staged before drivers leave Track outstanding deliveries and help resolve delivery issues Communicate with drivers regarding route changes, delays, pickups, and additional deliveries Help ensure required delivery documentation and proof of delivery are completed After-Hours Responsibilities College Park Pharmacy provides after-hours support to the facilities and patients we serve. After-hours technician coverage is handled through a weekly rotation among the pharmacy technician team The Lead Pharmacy Technician will participate in the after-hours rotation as scheduled As the Lead Technician, you must also be willing and available to assist the technician on call when additional help is needed Help troubleshoot urgent operational issues that arise after normal pharmacy hours Assist with STAT and urgent medication requests Help coordinate after-hours deliveries when necessary Communicate with the pharmacist on call, technicians, drivers, and facility staff as needed Help resolve workflow or delivery issues when the technician on call needs additional support Escalate clinical or pharmacist-only matters to the pharmacist Help ensure urgent after-hours requests are followed through appropriately Provide guidance and support to other technicians during difficult or high-volume after-hours situations The Lead Technician is expected to take a leadership role in supporting after-hours operations, even when another technician is the scheduled technician on call. Inventory & Pharmacy Operations Assist with inventory management, medication ordering, receiving, and maintaining appropriate stock levels Identify medications that need to be ordered or may delay patient care Help monitor medication availability for upcoming cycle fills and recurring prescriptions Maintain an organized and efficient pharmacy workspace Help identify workflow bottlenecks and operational problems Recommend and assist with implementing workflow improvements Maintain accurate documentation and patient confidentiality Follow HIPAA requirements, applicable pharmacy regulations, and internal pharmacy policies Assist pharmacists and pharmacy management with additional operational responsibilities as needed Required Qualifications Active Texas Pharmacy Technician registration Current national Pharmacy Technician certification Previous pharmacy technician experience Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflow and prescription processing Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Ability to lead, provide direction, and hold team members accountable Ability to coordinate technicians, drivers, deliveries, and operational priorities Ability to participate in the technician after-hours rotation Willingness to assist with after-hours operations outside of your scheduled rotation when leadership support is needed Reliable transportation and ability to commute to The Woodlands, TX Strongly Preferred Qualifications Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy experience ComputerRx experience Previous Lead Pharmacy Technician, Senior Pharmacy Technician, or supervisory experience Experience working with Assisted Living, Hospice, Skilled Nursing, or other facility-based pharmacy services Experience with cycle fills Experience with blister packaging or unit-dose packaging Experience creating employee schedules Experience coordinating pharmacy deliveries or driver routes Experience using ticketing or task-management systems Experience handling after-hours or on-call pharmacy operations Experience resolving prescription claim and insurance issues Experience training and supervising pharmacy technicians Experience with medication ordering and inventory management Ideal Candidate Our ideal
