Job Description
COMPENSATION WILL BE BASED ON EXPERIENCE POSITION SUMMARY
Under pharmacist supervision, transcribes written and faxed prescription information into the pharmacy software system or process electronically communicate orders with the pharmacy software system to generate an accurate label, bill the insurance, and maintain an accurate patient profile. Accurately and efficiently packages and labels prescriptions and OTC drug products in to appropriate packaging in accordance with state and federal law. Works to ensure the pharmacy's sales, profit and customer service objectives are maximized.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enthusiastically and genuinely greets and welcome customers to Young's Drug Store and promptly offering assistance or direction.
- Enters prescription order information from a written or electronic form into the RX30 pharmacy software system to develop an accurate label and prescription record according to pharmacy rules and regulations.
- Check in, unpack and shelf the daily drug order.
- Demonstrates accurate mixing, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals using written prescription orders and the RX30 generated label according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
- Proficient in on-line billing of insurance and various rejection resolutions, prior authorizations, and helpdesk interactions ensuring that each dispensed medication has been reimbursed at a profitable level.
- Ensures every prescription generated under his/her control is billed correctly using the best available information at the time of dispensing and in accordance with company policy.
- Confidently communicates via phone with customers in a knowledgeable, polite, and caring manner; ensures an exceptional customer service experience.
- Communicates directly and effectively with pharmacists in a polite and professional manner to clarify questions as to prevent error and waste.
- Works independently to prioritize work according to daily workload and workflow to ensure on-time delivery to the customer.
- Uses and maintains the pharmacy records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and control records in accordance with state and federal law, accreditation standards, or company policy.
- Demonstrates knowledge of prescription and OTC drug product and medical equipment to effectively develop an accurate patient prescription profile, retrieve from shelf and assemble into a prescription.
- Proficient in inventory management including proper maintenance of our inventory management system and audit requests utilizing the "first in, first out" (FIFO), avoiding waste and spoilage.
- Packages and labels prescriptions according to professional standards ensuring accuracy of all prescriptions issued under his/her control and are presented to a pharmacist for verification before dispensing.
- Properly uses internal and external forms and document to communicate effectively with coworker and customers.
- Proficient in all the functionality of the POS system (cash register) including credit cards, check processes, FSA processing, returns, and signature logs.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient in the use of computers and supportive software including the pharmacy software, payroll software, insurance portals, internet resources, security systems, phone message retrieval, POS systems and wholesaler platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems of varied scope; must be able to act decisively in implementing solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task; ability to respond flexibly in a quickly changing environment.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) for effective interaction with pharmacy team and customers.
- Must demonstrate an exemplary commitment to provide exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS
WORKINGENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work activities including moving around pharmacy floor for extended periods.
- Must demonstrate physical agility (bending, twisting, reaching and pulling) for handling merchandise. Must be available to work early mornings, days, evenings until 6, and Saturdays once a month 9am-1pm to meet the needs of the pharmacy.
Standing:
4-9 hours per day- Requires occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Ability to work with a team, speaks clearly, hear well, and listen effectively. See objects at close vision and be able to identify between letters and numbers and distinguish colors.
