Job Description

Integrated Dx is seeking a Phlebotomist/Specimen Collector for our Nancy, KY location. This position requires availability Monday-Friday. This position is responsible for the following:
  • Collects patient samples via urine cup collection, or other manner via established lab protocol
  • Must perform phlebotomy
  • Disposes of biomedical waste according to state standards
  • Utilizes personal protective equipment as needed
  • Works within safety policies and procedures defined by lab protocol
  • Maintains the collection space in a safe and clean manner
  • Interacts in a professional and courteous manner with patients and clients at all times
  • Provides patient with preparation and collection instructions for lab testing
  • Helpful to patients and clients in answering questions and follow-ups as necessary
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
  • Follows the physician's orders when ordering tests
  • Verifies insurance and correctly enters into the system
  • Ensures that the specimen meets sample requirements for in-house testing as well as testing sent to reference labs
  • Ensures that lab test requisitions are accurately completed and follows-up for additional information if needed
  • Orders tests in the LIS accurately and in a timely manner
  • Checks sample label before placing bar code label on the sample, ensuring positive identification
  • Properly processes the samples and maintains specimen integrity at all times
  • Transport samples to our laboratory in Richmond, KY Skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
