Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter and American Sign Language educator in schools within the scenic region near Somerset, Danville, and Berea—approximately 60 miles south of Lexington! This unique assignment welcomes experienced professionals, including those applying from out of state. Candidates who hold a 4.0 EIPA or NIC certification and are open to obtaining Kentucky licensure are encouraged to apply and will be fully guided through the licensing process.
What you bring:
Active 4.0 EIPA or NIC certification (or willingness to secure Kentucky licensure) Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience in educational settings, interpreting for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students Ability to contribute both as an ASL interpreter and as a classroom resource for students and faculty Strong organizational skills, reliability, and adaptability in school environments Role responsibilities include: Providing clear and accurate ASL interpretation during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school events Collaborating with teachers and support staff to facilitate meaningful student participation and engagement Implementing strategies to bridge communication between Deaf students, peers, and educators Fostering an inclusive, respectful learning atmosphere Assisting with IEP meetings, parent conferences, or extracurricular activities as needed This position offers a contract role with opportunities for professional growth and the chance to make a tangible difference in the daily learning experience of students.
