Duties Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling on pediatric patients, ensuring minimal discomfort and anxiety. Collect, process, label, and handle laboratory specimens following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Assist in obtaining vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, tailored to pediatric physiology. Maintain accurate documentation of patient information, specimen details, and test orders within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation to the laboratory for analysis while adhering to all safety standards. Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures clearly, offering reassurance, and demonstrating empathy during specimen collection. Support laboratory operations by maintaining cleanliness of work areas, preparing supplies, and assisting with inventory management as needed. Qualifications Proven experience in laboratory procedures with a focus on pediatric or clinical laboratory work. Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques (phlebotomy), blood sampling, and specimen handling procedures. Familiarity with laboratory techniques, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge related to pediatrics, and physiology fundamentals. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required; additional phlebotomy or medical laboratory certifications are preferred. Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience working with pediatric or geriatric populations is highly desirable. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for data entry and patient record management. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children and their families. Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting when necessary and maintain aseptic technique during procedures.
