Phlebotomist II Job Description As a Phlebotomist II, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties including troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. Your primary function will be to collect and store specimens according to established procedures while maintaining a high level of professionalism and care. Responsibilities Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. Decontaminate and update patient information regularly. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Ensure all physician orders are fully understood and followed. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes correctly. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Additional Skills & Qualifications At least 1 year of experience in specimen collection and customer service. Strong skills in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture. Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced, typically in a lab or hospital setting, where you will use various technologies and equipment to collect and handle specimens. The role requires adherence to safety and regulatory standards, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of specimens during transport and storage. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of South Burlington, VT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
