The Physical Therapist Assistant will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality therapeutic services designed to improve residents' mobility, strength, balance, independence, and overall quality of life. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented professional who enjoys working with older adults and is committed to providing respectful, individualized, and compassionate care. Essential Responsibilities Provide physical therapy treatments and therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Assist residents with exercises, mobility training, strengthening, balance, coordination, and functional activities. Implement treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist. Monitor residents' responses to treatment and communicate changes or concerns to the Physical Therapist and appropriate members of the healthcare team. Assist residents with transfers, ambulation, positioning, and use of adaptive or therapeutic equipment as appropriate. Document treatments, progress, and resident responses accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and other interdisciplinary team members to support resident-centered care. Educate residents and caregivers on appropriate exercises, mobility techniques, and safety practices as directed by the Physical Therapist. Promote resident dignity, privacy, safety, and independence at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment. Participate in care planning and other meetings as requested. Qualifications Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the State of Illinois. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain as required. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to resident care. Ability to safely assist residents with mobility, transfers, and therapeutic activities. Previous experience in a skilled nursing, senior living, rehabilitation, or geriatric setting is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Ability to safely assist residents with transfers and mobility. Ability to lift, push, and pull as required to perform essential job functions, consistent with facility safety policies. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
