New Ulm Medical Center is seeking a Casual APP to provide vacation coverage and supplemental support in the Emergency Department. The ED is always staffed by a physician, with the APP serving as a second provider during periods of higher patient volume. You will work alongside a team of ED physicians and have access to support from a wide variety of specialties. This role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support a collaborative Emergency Department team while helping meet fluctuating patient care needs.
Key Position Details:
Minimum commitment of 1 shift per month Regular shift opportunities:
Sunday:
3:00 PM-10:00
PM Monday-Thursday:
9:00 AM-5:00 PM Designated holidays: 10:00 AM-10:00
PM Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve:
3:00 PM-10:00 PM Additional shifts may be available during surge periods, including Fridays, Saturdays, holidays, and as-needed departmental support. Quarterly schedules are developed in advance (e.g., April-June schedules are finalized in January). 24/7 access to specialty service lines, including mental health, cardiology, neurology, and pediatrics 11-bed Emergency Department with approximately 9,500 annual visits Level IV Trauma Center and stroke-ready facility Supported by an experienced nursing team and employed EMS network
Job Description:
Complete comprehensive patient assessments to determine diagnosis and treatment Order and interpret medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician. Prescribe medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment. Provide patient education and consult with physician teammates when the patient's need is outside of scope Promote communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff and act as a resource to members of the team Act as liaison with outside agencies as needed Required Qualifications Completion of an accredited physician assistant program OR nurse practitioner program Need ED/Urgent Care experience required to be casual New Graduates may be considered ?Experience in family practice, internal medicine, urgent or emergency care strongly preferred Licenses/Certifications Certification as Physician Assistant
  • NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire OR Certified Nurse Practitioner
  • American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty required upon hire BLS Tier 1
  • Basic Life Support

Pay Range Pay Range:
$141,731 to $155,896 per year The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
