Build the Future of Academic Geriatric Psychiatry The Department of Psychiatry at Tufts Medical Center is seeking an outstanding Academic Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our growing faculty at the new Tufts Medicine Behavioral Health Hospital (TMBHH) in Malden, Massachusetts. Tufts Medicine, the leading integrated academic health system in Massachusetts, and Acadia Healthcare, the nation's largest standalone behavioral health provider, have partnered to create this state-of-the-art 144-bed behavioral health hospital , designed to transform behavioral healthcare delivery while serving as a primary teaching hospital for psychiatric education across Tufts Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to help build one of the nation's premier academic geriatric psychiatry programs, caring for older adults with complex psychiatric illness, dementia, behavioral disturbances, and co-occurring medical conditions in a highly collaborative academic environment. Position Highlights As a member of the Department of Psychiatry faculty, you will: Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment for older adults admitted to our 48-bed inpatient geriatric psychiatry service , one of the largest academic geriatric psychiatry units in New England. Help lead the continued clinical development, quality improvement, and future growth of the inpatient geriatric psychiatry program. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues including psychiatry, neurology, geriatric medicine, neuropsychology, nursing, psychology, pharmacy, rehabilitation therapies, and social work. Join a nationally recognized Department of Psychiatry committed to innovation in dementia care, neuropsychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, neuromodulation, and behavioral health. Academic Opportunities As an academic faculty member at Tufts University School of Medicine , you will have the opportunity to: Teach and mentor medical students, psychiatry residents, geriatric psychiatry fellows, psychology trainees, and other interdisciplinary learners. Participate in curriculum development and educational innovation. Collaborate with faculty engaged in clinical, translational, and health services research. Pursue scholarly activities in areas including dementia, behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), neuropsychiatry, neuromodulation (including ECT), delirium, late-life depression, health services research, and Alzheimer's disease therapeutics. Develop academic interests with mentorship and opportunities for promotion through Tufts University School of Medicine. Qualifications MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry. ABPN Added Qualification (Subspecialty Certification) in Geriatric Psychiatry preferred but not required. Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. DEA registration (or eligibility). Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching, and academic medicine. CPR certification and de-escalation/restraint training (training provided upon hire as needed). Why Join Tufts?
