Job Description

Purpose of Job This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities in a specialty clinic. Facilitates patient/provider communication and coordination of care. Provides specialized care to patients with diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. Job Functions Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides specialized care to patients with diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. Evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with benign and malignant disorders of the integumentary system as well as sexually transmitted diseases. Administers prescribed medications/vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure. Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families. Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being. Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities. Performs specialty procedures/tests Helps maintain stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam room. Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary. Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope. Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management. Minimum Education/Work Experience MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required BE/BC in Dermatology Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Dermatology Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain) Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI) Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges, if applicable

required within 180 days of hire Licensed Physician

  • Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire Board Certification or Board eligible by the American Board of Dermatology or in Dermatology by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology upon hire Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire National Provider Identifier upon hire Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions.
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care Knowledge of medical terminology Ability effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment Ability to multi-task Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to work autonomously and as a team Capable of making independent decision with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills License/Certifications Obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure, DEA certification in the State of Minnesota, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges Physical Demands Link to Employee Health Physical Demands
