UTRGV School of Medicine Department of Orthopedics seeks a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician/Non-operative Sports Medicine Physician. Candidates should be board certified/board eligible and have completed an accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship. Responsibilities will include patient care, teaching residents and medical students, collegiate and high school athletics coverage, and opportunities for clinical research.Minimum Qualifications:
Board Certified in Family Medicine or board eligible and have completed an accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgical Specialty and Musculoskeletal (MSK) at the UTRGV School of Medicine and appropriate hospital staff appointments. The successful candidate should have a proven record of clinical excellence, experience in an educational environment, and outstanding communication skills. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential.Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
Board Certified in Family Medicine or board eligible and must have completed an accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License.Preferred Qualification:
The successful candidate should have superior knowledge of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions including athletic injuries. The ability to work with a comprehensive sports medicine program, including coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and orthopedic surgeons is critical for success. The understanding of sports cultures and practices, ability to prescribe medications, and effectively manage musculoskeletal conditions non operatively is integral to the position.Salary:
