Sterling Medical has been providing professional staffing to U.S. government contracts for over 35 years. We are looking for Forensic Psychologists to provide services to U.S. DOJ, Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR). These services are provided upon request of Immigration Courts to determine if detainees can assist with the defense in deportment proceedings. You would be determining if referred detainees are able to understand the deportation rules and processes. This is a narrow focus competency evaluation. Evaluations are usually conducted virtually. In some cases, in-person evaluations will be conducted at the Detention Facility. When it comes to the attention of the Immigration Judge through documentation, medical records, or other evidence that an unrepresented detained alien appearing before the Court may have a serious mental disorder or condition that may render him or her incompetent to represent him

• or herself in removal proceedings, the Immigration Judge will conduct a competency hearing. If, at the conclusion of competency hearing(s), the Immigration Judge is unable to make a determination of whether the alien is competent to represent him
• or herself in removal proceedings based on the evidence presented, The Judge will now be able to order an independent mental competency examination and the production of a psychological independent examination and report. While Immigration Judges shall retain their discretion to determine whether or not a detained alien is competent to represent him
• or herself, the independent competency evaluation will serve as a useful tool in assisting with that determination.

Compensation:

Once the report is accepted by the court, you will be reimbursed at a flat-rate per report. Normally 3 1/2 hours is required to conduct the interview and complete the report.

Requirements:

Valid forensic or clinical license from the state in which practice is based. Experience in conducting Forensic Interviews, Examinations and/or Evaluations. Complete training provided by Sterling Medical. Produce report acceptible to the referring Judge. Able to complete the report through clinical interview, conducted via VTC during current COVID precautions, and records review.
