Psychometrist

Job Description

Job Summary:
The position of Psychometrist at Augusta Pain Center is one of multiple roles including Test Administrator, Assistant, and Patient Educator/ Advocate. This position prefers but does not require, a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology. Any experience in the mental health or medical field would be helpful. Under the direction and supervision of the licensed clinical Psychologist, responsibilities include administering psychological tests, relaxation training and coaching in various settings, providing education and advocacy to patients and family members, record-keeping/paperwork, scheduling, and facilitating other counseling services including, but not limited to, pain management training, biofeedback/relaxation training, smoking cessation, weight management, and sleep hygiene. Treatment is based on cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and other evidenced-based texts and approaches. The Psychometrist will also work alongside the Psychologist, Physicians, and other providers at Augusta Pain Center to practice an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to pain management. The Psychometrist will use their knowledge of psychology to administer and score tests that evaluate the cognitive, academic, behavioral, and emotional status of the individual being tested. The Psychometrist will be responsible for typing reports or letters and updating records at the direction of the Psychologist. The Psychometrist will record their observations, test results, and any additional information they've noted about the patient. They will then compile this information into a report that psychologists can use in the diagnosis and treatment planning of the individual.
