THE ROLE
The Education Cooperative seeks an Interim School Adjustment Counselor for the TEC Phoenix Academy (TAP) at its 111 Robbins Road campus in Walpole currently serving students in grades 6-12
WORK YEAR:
Interim Position - Start Time - 11/30/26 through second week in April 2027OUR
ORGANIZATION
The Education Cooperative (TEC) is an educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in E. Walpole, MA that develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our 19 member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost effective manner. TEC Phoenix Academy is a DESE approved public day school that is designed for students in Grades K-2 and 6-12 with academic, emotional and/or behavioral challenges that necessitate a small, structured educational setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide direct clinical services to students on caseload in alignment with their IEPs-Consult and collaborate daily with program staff in order to support development of students academic and behavioral skills-Communicate with parents/caregivers to ensure an effective partnership between home and school-Liaison with sending districts and community providers-Provide risk assessments-Maintain and document relevant student data-Complete all required IEP paperwork in alignment with established timelines-Actively participate in special education team meetings-Assist the Program Director in the intake of student referrals-Participate in staff and other professional development meetings, conferences and other training, such as Safety Care-Ability to drive vans as needed-Other relevant duties, as assignedKNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, & SKILL-Strong clinical skills-Knowledge of special education laws and procedures-Skilled at working with students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs and/or a trauma history-Expertise and commitment to creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, supportive, and appropriately challenging for all students-Strong communication skills-Excellent judgment and decision-making skills-Ability to think proactively and respond flexibly-Able to exhibit a calm, supportive demeanor in the face of unexpected situations or behavior-Adept at building strong relationships with students, their families and other community members-Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a professional team-Technological proficiency - having the necessary skills to produce and maintain reports and communicate electronically-Ability to collect, analyze and synthesize assessment and other data-Ability to work under time restraints and meet deadlines-Ability to maintain confidentiality
