Delhi, CA California Psychiatric Transitions is a 98 bed Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility located in Delhi, CA. We serve adults with severe and persistent mental illness as well as the forensic population. We are a recovery-oriented program and our primary focus it is to help our clients successfully transition back into society. We are currently looking for a full time Recreational Therapist to join our team. Therapists will work along with the Interdisciplinary Team and Activity Department to provide group and individual sessions, assist with program development, community integration outings, assist with planning and implementation of activities for facility-wide events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be certified or working towards certification in the fields of recreational therapy. Recreation therapist means a person who is registered or eligible for registration as a recreation therapist by the California Board of Parks and Recreation Certification or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.

JOB DUTIES

Recreation therapists employ leisure activities to help patients with disabilities or illnesses. Using games, sports, crafts and more, they maintain their patients' physical and emotional well-being. In doing this, they also help patients integrate into their community via group activities.

• Facilitate creative, educational, psychosocial, recreational, and activity-based groups that will effectively engage residents and support their treatment plans, as needed.
• Participate in community integration outings, as well as monitor residents to support successful integration and involvement with the community.
• Meet with residents on an individual basis as needed.
• Participate in theme day and holiday events, and work with team members to collaborate and assist in development of the department.
• Effectively manage groups and provide verbal de-escalation when needed.
• Provide required documentation related to conducting individual sessions, activities assessments, monthly, and quarterly reports.
• Provide therapeutic counseling support in all aspects of position.
• Participate in required in-service training and staff development as needed.
• Due to the unpredictable nature of the psychiatric profession, employees are to engage in crisis prevention procedures for the safety, health, and welfare of the residents and staff. In addition to specific job duties, at times, you will be expected to stand for periods of time, bend, kneel, lift, carry and walk swiftly or run. Additional tasks outside of job description may be added as needed.
