POSITION SUMMARY

Conducts resident activities to promote a level of health, wellbeing, engagement and growth in a comprehensive Memory Care program. This position would also participate as a caregiver if and when necessary. Caregivers role includes providing hands on care, physical and emotional support to each resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home like environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in conducting lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for Memory Care residents. Assists in planning appropriate programs for holidays and special events. Able to identify appropriate stimulation for various levels of dementia. Assists in motivating residents regarding appropriate individual and group activities based on resident interests and opportunities for growth. Assists with maintaining equipment and supplies in accordance with department's budgetary guidelines. Assists in addressing resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest. Participates in community in-services and trainings relevant to responsibilities. Assists in analyzing resident surveys to determine ongoing activities are in place that meet the resident interests. Assists in coordinating and facilitating appropriate mixed group activities. Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; knows where their residents are and physically checks on each assigned resident as assigned. Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly. Notifies supervisor and/or Director of Nursing if a resident has increased care needs. Serves and collects food trays and assists as needed; reports refusal of meals or loss of appetite. Maintains cleanliness of resident's work areas. Practices good standard care precautions of cleanliness, hygiene, and health. Helps residents maintain independence, promotes dignity, and physical safety of each resident. Engages residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities. Greets and assists all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors and team members. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
