Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging and meaningful programs for our senior residents. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and oversee a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Responsibilities Develop and implement diverse activity programs tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities. Coordinate resident events such as social gatherings, outings, celebrations, and therapeutic activities that enhance community engagement. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, histories, and individual needs to personalize activities effectively. Collaborate with care staff to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) when needed and ensure activities align with residents' health conditions. Manage scheduling of activities, ensuring consistent programming while adapting to changing resident needs or special occasions. Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to evaluate program success and identify areas for improvement. Lead a team of activity assistants or volunteers, providing guidance, training, and motivation to deliver high-quality recreational experiences. Skills Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior activity programming within assisted living or nursing home settings. Strong knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and geriatrics to tailor activities appropriately. Excellent communication skills for engaging residents effectively and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation, scheduling, and reporting purposes. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs that promote socialization and mental stimulation among seniors. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs within a long-term care environment. Exceptional organizational skills for managing schedules, coordinating events, and maintaining resident rapport.
