Overview We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Part-Time Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of residents in a senior living community. This role involves planning and facilitating engaging activities tailored to the needs of individuals with various cognitive and physical challenges, including dementia and memory care. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or long-term care, with a focus on enhancing residents' social, emotional, and physical well-being through recreational therapy and meaningful engagement. Duties Develop and implement a variety of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity for residents. Assist with planning special events, outings, and therapeutic programs aligned with residents' interests and abilities. Provide companionship and support during activities, ensuring safety and comfort for participants. Help residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, or mobility assistance as needed. Manage activity schedules to ensure timely execution of planned programs while accommodating individual needs. Collaborate with caregiving staff to coordinate activities that complement medical and personal care plans. Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to tailor future activities effectively. Support aging issues counseling by providing emotional support and promoting a positive environment for residents facing cognitive decline or disabilities. Skills Experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and long-term care best practices. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff. Ability to assist with ADLs and adapt activities for individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges. Excellent schedule management skills to organize multiple activities throughout the day efficiently. Compassionate caregiving approach with understanding of aging issues and emotional support techniques. Experience working with people with disabilities or in home & community care environments is highly desirable.
